DESCRIPTION:

Day 1: Arrival – check-in for all riders

Arrival on Sibiu International Airport. Our local guide will welcome you and then will transfer you to Atel. Accommodation will take place in a unique location, a small art museum, a 3 * guest house situated in front of the local Fortified Church. Pension descended from the old parish house and is fully renovated. Depending on the flight schedule you will have full or half board during this first day. There are no formal plans and no riding on this day. Dinner. Overnight in Atel.

Day 2 : Assessment

Breakfast. The riders are introduced to their horses and each rider will have a private assessment session in order to know his horse. With riders and horses ready, the day begins with a trip around Atel and continues towards to Dupus(Tobsdorf), one of the oldest village in the area (since 1267). Lunch picnic during the tour. Return to Atel. Walking tour inside the Atel Fortified Church. Dinner. Overnight in Atel.

Day 3 : Wine Trail

After breakfast the riders are following the medieval merchants wine trials. First village along the ride Richis (Reichesdorf) welcome us with wine legends full of color flavor and savor. The richest village in the area in the medieval times due to his famous wineries give us a tour of another impressive Fortified Church. After that the trails take us towards Alma Vii (Almen), another famous village with the same rich in taste history. Lunch picnic during the tour. The landscape with large valleys and stiff hills will give the rider the satisfaction of riding in the most various conditions. Return to Atel. Special local wine tasting before dinner. Overnight in Atel.

Day 4 : Royal Trail

After breakfast the riders are taking the paths where the British royalties are riding from time to time. The famous village of Biertan(Bierthalm) is targeted for the day, a superb area described as “a place of quite extraordinary natural beauty and cultural richness” by HRH Prince Of Wales. Throughout the whole of your riding trips the cultural side of this experience is highlighted by the guide with legends and historical facts. That makes this day very important, because in the Royal Trails day, the legends are still alive today. Lunch picnic during the tour. Return to Atel. Dinner. Overnight in Atel.

Day 5: Forest Trail

After breakfast the riders are taking forest paths, towards Pelisor(Magarei) village. A good opportunity to orientate in the forest by the natural signs and plenty of opportunities to observe the rich wild life. In the Forest Trails Day whatever is a hot day or a rainy day – riders will feel cozy and relaxed! In Pelisor village we will have the tour of the local Fortified Church as well the parish house. You will have the opportunity to serve a traditional Romanian lunch on the terrace of the parish house. Return to Atel. Dinner. Overnight in Atel.

Day 6: Green Trail

After breakfast the riders will head towards Apos(Apesdorf) village and will try to take the paths outside the forests in order to be more in contact with the large landscapes. Also to be able to see how some of the people are still working the land manually and ecologically, grass cutting or making haystacks depending of season and times of the day. After the Fortified Church tour in Apos you will have a picnic lunch. Return to Atel. Traditional Romanian Dinner with local music. Overnight in Atel.

Day 7: Departure

Breakfast & Departure. You will be transfer to Sibiu International Airport for your destination flights.

Trail Itinerary & Times

Our trail ride itinerary will remain the same.  But please note the itinerary, and ride start times each day may change and vary for reasons out of our control at short notice; due to tides, weather and unforeseen circumstance.

Clothing/Equipment

Riding Helmets are obligatory .Suitable footwear and pants to be worn. We do not advise riding in denim jeans unless you are used to doing so as they may chaff your legs. Riding breeches/jodhpurs with chaps or long boots are recommended.  Footwear must be supportive of the ankle and have a heel. Sun block is recommended. Gloves are recommended. Rain Jacket, and rain pants that fit over riding clothes.

Horses

Our horses are a mixture of lipizzaner breed.

Riding Ability

We require that all riders participating on the tour are able to walk/trot and canter competently in an saddle. We advise riders to take some lessons before participating on this .

Safety for Riders

Please listen to Guides instructions and respect them. Please ask for clarification if you do not understand any instruction from your Guide.Trail Riding involves long and hard hours on both Horses and Riders. It is up to the Guide to dictate the pace and at no time is anyone allowed to pass the leader or set the pace. Any person behaving in a manner likely to cause an accident or disregarding the instructions of the Guide will be removed from the ride. Do not hold your horse back so you can trot/canter or gallop to catch up to the rest of the group.

Insurance

We recommends that all clients take out personal accident as well as baggage insurance, as Sis Travel agency can in no way be held responsible for accident, loss, damage or injury to person or baggage. We also advise clients to take out Trip Cancellation Insurance.
